Before I had a baby I was totally that delusional woman that said "What's so expensive about babies anyway? You get everything you need at your baby shower and they can just wear onsies all the time!" Oh, and "Babies don't need toys. You buy them all of these toys and they just want to play with a coaster."

Now, I am still a pretty firm believer in that second quote because my daughters favorite toy is in fact a set of coasters, but I was absolutely insane when it comes to baby clothes! I have to admit i'm a bit obsessed and while she does wear onsies a lot of the time, I love to dress her up and it gets expensive. I did make a decision once I realized how out of control this new obsession could get that I wouldn't be someone who spends unreasonable amounts of money on clothes that let's be honest will most likely be worn once or twice before they're stained or outgrown. Through some trial and error I have come up with not only some great places to get adorable baby clothes for a reasonable price but also a system of what items I buy where to get the most bang for my buck! The outfit Ella is wearing in the pictures cost me less than $15 all together! This system has taken me a long time to perfect (Ella is almost one now and I'm just starting to get the hang of it) so I'd thought I'd share it in hopes of helping you avoid the trial and error that I went through!

Old Navy and H&M are my two favorite shops because they have super cute stuff all the time and they have great sales often. (Old navy is having one right now on all of their kids and baby clothes!) But even their full priced items are generally pretty reasonable. ThredUp is an awesome online consignment shop where you can get some pretty good deals on some great stuff as well.

Another way to find some good deals is to check out special deal or "pop up market" websites. Two of my favorites are Zulilly & Brickyard Buffalo. They have great daily deals and you can find really cute stuff for great prices. Plus it's fun to check in each day and see what new stuff they've added!

Resale shops and Mommy Expos are great places to find name brand items like Gap, Zara, and dress clothes. The Gap sweater and Old Navy boots that Ella is wearing in the pictures are some items that I picked up at the latest expo that I went to. My advice with buying used though is to be ultra selective with the items and avoid buying things like sleepers and leggings because those are generally the most worn and therefore not even worth the few dollars that you spend on them. I plan on writing a whole separate post just on resale shops and how I find the best deals so stay tuned for that!

The first few months Ella lived in fleece jammies. I love Carter's but my favorite are The Children's Place because they fit the best. You can usually get a good deal when they have big sales but I find both discounted at Marshall's, TJ Maxx, and Ross all the time.

I buy all of Ella's leggings at Target. They're $5, they have every color and they're very durable.

When it comes to shoes I tend to splurge a bit because I know that she will get a ton of wear out of them. She has a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins that she wears pretty much every day so they are definitely worth the money! (Find out why I love them so much in this post!) To be honest these Old Navy boots pictured are super cute and they were $1 at the mommy expo so I couldn't pass them up but they're not practical because she can't really walk in them.

Because I dress Ella in a lot of neutral colors I love to put a little bow or headband in her hair. It makes every outfit girly! There are so many awesome small and etsy shops to choose from but some of my faves are Chico Rose, (They have bow ties too) The Little Design Co, and Miss Giggle Buns!

I know it was a bit all over the place but I hope this was helpful to someone! Thanks for reading! What are some of your favorite places to shop for baby clothes? Please let me know in the comments!
