The Secret to Pulling Off Any Look

I remember one time when I was a senior in high school (the start of my interest in fashion) I put together this outfit, it was a babydoll dress with a structured bodice and these purple sweater tights. I finished the look with these super cool vintage cowboy boots. In hindsight it probably not my best look, but I LOVED it. I felt so cool even though at the time I was not really on trend for where I lived - sperry's and bootcut jeans were the norm.
There is something that people have said to me - the first time was that day while i was rocking those purple sweater tights. I think it's supposed to be meant as a compliment but it actually makes me so sad. It goes something like this:
"That looks so great on you but I could never pull that off." I used to wonder if this was a backhanded compliment - kind of like a "bless your heart" type of comment.
As I've gotten older I've wondered what qualifies as "Pulling it off". Why do so many women see an outfit that they love but instantly brush it off because it won't look good on them? SAYS WHO?
I want to tell you the key to pulling off any outfit. It's so simple really!
Confidence.
Here's the kicker, it doesn't even have to be REAL confidence.
A few weeks ago I wrote a post about the power of our thoughts and words. How if you think of yourself as a hot mess, that's all you will ever be. That same principle applies here! If you THINK you can't pull off that amazing outfit - you won't. If you stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself over and over day after day that you are cool, and confident and ROCKING THAT LOOK, it will start to FEEL true and then it will be true!
I want to encourage you to step out of the box when it comes to your wardrobe. That cool boater hat that you bought because you thought it was awesome but you never wear because you don't want people to think that you're trying to hard, rock it. Those shoes that you bought because you saw them on a fashion blogger and you loved them - but then they came in the mail and you couldn't figure out an outfit to wear with them, Pinterest that ish!
One month, put outfits together that you never would have normally, then post them on social media! Instagram, Facebook it doesn't matter but show it off! Then tag it with the hashtag #tabbilanexconfidence so I can see and share them! The reason I want you to post the outfits is because I want you to give your friends the opportunity to comment on your looks. Positive reinforcement is such a confidence booster and this whole thing is about building your CONFIDENCE!
The only person holding you back is YOU! Let's do it together!
