Thankful.

It's officially Christmas time. We are finally able to drink all the hot cocoa and watch Elf on repeat for the rest of the year! The tree is getting decorated and the lights are going up and the holiday shopping has commenced. Everyone is out trying to find the perfect gift for everyone on their list and since gifts is one of my love languages, I'm all about it! You can even check out my Holiday Gift Guides: Stocking Stuffers Under $25 Guide, For Her Guide, & For Him Guide to get something special for that special someone!
Even though I love giving (and getting) Christmas presents, it has always amazed me that we spend an entire month thinking about all of the things that we are thankful for only to turn around and spend the next month writing lists full of things that we want! That attitude of gratefulness is so short lived and I find myself always wanting more stuff. The newest phone, the best baby gear, the latest fashions; It's exhausting! I never actually realized this until I was having a conversation with the hubs about how we don't want to overload our child with tons of toys (I know every new mom says that at first and the seasoned moms smile and nod because they know that one day you will have a whole room dedicated to toys) so we were thinking about how we could avoid toy overloads on Christmas and birthdays. As we were talking i could feel the hypocrisy in our words. I would never ask for someone to donate to a charity instead of buying me a present yet we were thinking about doing that instead of gifts for our one year old. It would probably be easy for the first couple of years but as they get older how could I expect my children to have a grateful heart all year long and not just in November when I most certainly don't? It has challenged me to really dig deep and think daily about what I am thankful for and not lose sight of that in the midst of all of the holiday craziness.
I have an amazing husband that works so hard to provide for our little family. I have amazing parents that have always loved and supported me. I hit the jackpot when it come to in-laws. I can honestly say that my siblings are my best friends. My little girl is the best and sweetest baby I've ever seen (not to mention she's darn cute). I have some of the best friends any girl could ask for. I get to do what I love and am passionate about every day. I grew up and live in the best country in the world and I have the freedom to live and worship as I please. I have an amazing savior that loves me and is for me always. The list can go on and on. I'm thankful that I have so much to be thankful for.
As you are sifting through the crowds and the gift guides this holiday season I challenge you to remember to be thankful for what you have. I'll be working on doing the same because thankfulness isn't just for Thanksgiving. I firmly believe that if everyone just took a minute every day to really think about what they have to be thankful for the world would be a much better place.

Our twinning flannels were a gift from a darling friend. Ella is wearing an XS and I am wearing an XXXL. This particular color is no longer available but I have linked up a similar one. I never thought I'd be a "mommy and me" type of mom but I'm a little bit obsessed and I'm not sorry!
Ella's little handmade bow is Chico Rose (currently my fave bow shop)! She makes the most adorable little felt & leather bows and they are impeccable quality! They make a perfect gift for a girl mom!
Thanks for reading you guys! I hope you have an awesome week!
